About
Phelicia Okon Magnusson is a queer black herbalist and flower essence practitioner based on the Big Island of Hawai’i. Her work centers folks of color who are affirming their wholeness by healing generational trauma, moving though narratives of shame, exploring sexuality and returning to their intuition and resilience in the face of oppression.
Her formal training took place at Arbor Vitae School of Traditional Western Herbalism in New York City, with Delta Gardens in Hampton Falls, New Hampshire, with Shayne Case in Portland, Oregon, with Dony Cotrina at El Centro De Guadelupe Chaska Suya in Iquitos, Peru and in many deep dives of self inquiry. Phelicia is particularly interested in the intersection of ritual, healing and community.
Phelicia has a great deal of gratitude and awe for the plants themselves, the infinite wisdom they hold, and the elders and traditions that hold plant wisdom sacred. In her work, Phelicia’s mission is to be a medium between plants and people and to support individuals in reconnecting with the wisdom of their bodies and the missions of their hearts.
Sessions
A session together is a conversation, either over the phone or in person. I start by asking you what it is you’ve come seeking support in, and the dialogue takes shape from there. The bulk of our work is deepening into awareness of your personal narratives, tracking sensation in the body, and affirming and returning to the specific ways you embody your intuition and divine knowing. At the end of the session, I will blend your essence and share any other relevant information. If it was a phone session you will receive your essence via priority mail.
Come with an open mind, a willingness to witness yourself, and with a commitment to your own wholeness.
My work centers the safety, wisdom and lived experience of Queer, Trans, Black, and Indigenous folks of color.
My work addresses all matters that lead you to the full celebration of your wholeness; but specifically, this work addresses narratives of shame, doubt & unworthiness, belonging & liberation.
I work primarily with flower essences & floral baths and occasionally with drop doses of tinctures.
I operate as a channel connecting with the plants, the land, and my ancestral & spiritual guidance & often loved ones that show up on your behalf.
What are flower essences?
Imagine capturing the essence of a flower's vibrant energy and turning it into a powerful healing remedy. Flower essences are precisely that - energetic imprints of flowers, delicately preserved in water with a touch of Brandy. Often confused with essential oils, these remedies have a distinct characteristic; they possess no fragrance and contain no physical plant matter. Instead, their power lies in their subtle yet profound ability to unlock and release emotional and spiritual traumas that linger within the energetic body.
Far beyond the physical realm, flower essences work on a deeper level, addressing unresolved wounds, fears, limiting beliefs, and unexpressed emotions that may have taken root within us over time. They gently nudge us towards self-awareness and healing, inviting us to embark on a personal journey of transformation.
As you embrace these flower essences, a beautiful process unfolds. They serve as guides, leading you to confront and explore your inner landscape. Dreams become more vivid, memories resurface, emotions come to the surface, thoughts gain clarity, and subtle synchronicities abound. It's as though the flowers are whispering in your ear, encouraging you to delve into your own narrative and discover the hidden threads that have shaped your life.
Each essence is like a new chapter in the book of your life, inviting you to turn the page and embark on a quest of self-discovery and growth. Like peeling back layers of an onion, these remedies help you reach the core of your being, where true healing lies. And in this profound healing journey, you may come to a beautiful realization - a recognition of your own wholeness.
